Artificial Intelligence: past, present, future
Deep Learning and neural networks are quickly becoming a dominant unified algorithm to extract information from unstructured data. Using standard gradient-descent learning algorithms and scalable models, they have been a revolution in image understanding, video summarization, captioning, scene understanding, speech recognition, text translation, and many more success stories coming on a almost daily basis! We will discuss how we can progress the field into more general artificial intelligence, so that these algorithms can continue to solve problems for us and take on more and more complex applications.
